Tattoo Trends & My First Tat

The most popular tattoo trends range from tribal tats to stars and butterflies. I have a lily with stars and swirls on my back. I did not choose my tattoo solely based upon the fact that everyone from Rihanna to Chris Brown has stars tatted all over them. Instead, I chose the lily as a representation of my evolution from a young adult into a woman (I was turning 21). I got the tat at Tattoos by Richie on Hempstead turnpike in Elmont, New York (http://www.tattooingbyrichie.com/). The artist who tatted me was Chris and he did a great job. The shading hurt like hell, but in the end it was all worth it. Would you ever consider stars or tribal tattoos?

Cheesy or Cute: Tattooed Love (Couples Edition)

I tend to believe that couples who tattoo their spouse's name on them are cute, but bad luck. It seems like everyone, from regular people to celebs, who tattoos their beloved ones name on them, or a symbol of their love for them ends up breaking up. I'll just name some examples: Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee; Eva Longoria and Tony Parker; Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton; Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder; Rihanna and Chris Brown; Hulk Hogan and Linda Hogan; Kenyon Martin and Trina; and last but not least Amy Winehouse, Miley Cyrus, Brandy, and Halle Berry ALL had tattoos for their lovers which were ultimately covered up instead of completely removed. The wrestler The Undertaker had his ex-wife's name removed from his throat. There are some who last the tide, but still face infidelity rumors: Victoria and David Beckham, Beyonce and Jay-Z, Khloe and Lamar Odom, and Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey. I think if someone loves another person, it really isn't necessary to prove it by inking yourself with their name, initials, lips, etc. But I guess to each his own; whatever floats your boat. I believe that it's bad luck though. Would you consider tattooing your significant others name on your body??? Take a look at the slideshow above to see some of their ink.

Tattoo Spotlight: Lady Gaga Vs. Rihanna

Welcome to another episode of the Tattoo Spotlight. This time the my two subjects are some pretty popular pop singers. In the left corner is Lady Gaga and her Barbadian challenger is Rihanna Fenti. Both women have many tattoos, but they're mainly subtle tats. Not too big or vibrant. Also none of their tattoos have color. Take a look at their work and you be the judge of whose body art is more interesting and eye-catching. In this case, as far as originality goes, I must say that Lady Gaga is the winner. To get a better understanding of the meanings behind these two talented female tattoos take a glance at these sites: http://bit.ly/hNdWky, http://bit.ly/goC3sJ. I was also impressed by the fact that many of Gaga'a loyal fans have tattoos of her, take a look: http://bit.ly/gOOOsz. She sure has some dedicated fans.
